"Across America, some schools still aren’t allowed to teach about safe sexual practices, in favor of abstinent-only mindsets. These methods are favored even though studies have proven that abstinence-only education fails to prepare youth to avoid unwanted pregnancies and sexually-transmitted diseases. Accordingly, I wanted to create a piece that addresses safe-sex education and encourages the abandonment of the abstinence model."
