For the love of fashion

Dear Society,

Please don’t assume.

Throughout our lives, we were always taught to never “judge a book by its cover”. However, it seems as though some of us don’t get the concept behind the meaning of it. Ever since freshman year, I have been in an environment filled with toxic masculinity. The reason being is that I am into fashion and dressing myself up. However, people will take this the wrong way and assume that I am dressing up to be feminine. People would say to me that I am becoming unmanly because of the way that I dress. Despite all that back talk and judging from the people around me, I don’t let that affect me from how I want to dress and being who I want to be. I believe that dressing up helps me express myself and shows other people who I am as a person. I strongly believe that people should dress the way they want to for the sole reason that it would help express themselves. Dressing up shouldn't be something to be afraid of, whether you're male or female, and rather it should be something that helps express who you are as a person.
